About Mario

About Mario | cloud architect, maker, and freediver based in Berlin.

Cloud architect by day,
maker by night,
freediver by weekend.

I’m Mario, a cloud architect and maker based in Berlin. By day I design and automate infrastructure; off the clock I’m bringing ideas to life layer by layer at my 3D printer, tinkering with whatever tech catches my eye, and chasing depth meter by meter as a freediver. I like it best when hobby and profession start to overlap. I keep finding ways to let the two feed each other. Some of my designs are published on Thingiverse, Printables, and MakerWorld; others I keep for personal use or share with the people I dive with.

What I work on

Cloud Architecture

Designing and running scalable, cost-efficient infrastructure across major cloud providers: from compute and networking to managed services.

Infrastructure as Code

Everything version-controlled with Terraform. Networking, storage, identity, serverless: all reproducible from code, no click-ops.

Automation

Scripting and serverless for secret rotation, CI/CD pipelines, and the routine work that shouldn’t need a human in the loop.

Freediving

Training for depth, time, and distance. My other skills have a quiet habit of sneaking into this one. Turns out engineers can’t stop optimising, even underwater.

3D Design & Printing

Parametric designs in Autodesk Fusion, printed on a 3D printer. Some are shared publicly on Thingiverse, Printables, and MakerWorld; the rest stay private or go to the people I dive with.

Making & DIY

Electronics, hardware tinkering, and whatever project comes next. The lab is always running something.
